Katherine Mary Knight case explored in new book
Author Rojé Augustin has released a new true-crime book, ‘The Butcher of Aberdeen’, which examines the case of Katherine Mary Knight. Knight was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the murder of John Price in Aberdeen, Australia, 26 years ago.
In November 2001, Justice Barry O'Keefe handed down the sentence, which was an Australian first for a woman. The crime involved the discovery of Price's body in a macabre state, with parts of his body cooked and served on plates.
Augustin’s work seeks to explore the psychological motivations behind the crime, investigating whether the perpetrator's actions were a result of nature or nurture. The book aims to provide a more humanized and restructured account of the facts surrounding the case.
