Katherine LaNasa draws on breast cancer survival for role in ‘The Pitt’

Actress Katherine LaNasa is drawing on her personal health journey to inform her role as charge nurse Dana Evans on the HBO Max medical drama ‘The Pitt’. Following a diagnosis of stage I breast cancer, LaNasa underwent surgery and three weeks of radiation. She noted that filming on an immersive emergency department set approximately six months after completing treatment felt ‘very real’ and allowed her to portray a compassionate nurse from the perspective of a patient.

LaNasa credited her survival to early detection, noting that discovering she had dense breasts in her 30s prompted her to maintain annual screenings.

In her personal life, LaNasa has been married to actor Grant Show since 2012. The couple, who met while working on the drama ‘Big Love’, frequently support one another during award ceremonies, including the Emmy Awards, where LaNasa has received recognition for her work on ‘The Pitt’.
