Kathmandu to host APrIGF 2026 and regional internet governance forums
The 17th Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu, Nepal, from October 4 to 7, 2026. Under the theme “Safeguarding a Resilient Internet in Times of Crisis,” the forum will host policymakers, technical experts, and civil society members to address challenges such as AI governance, digital resilience, cybersecurity, and the digital divide.
In a related regional development, APNIC and SANOG have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance technical capacity building and internet development across South Asia. This follows the South Asia APNIC Sub-Regional Forum held in Kathmandu, where stakeholders discussed critical technical priorities including IPv6 deployment, routing security—specifically Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI)—and internet resource management.
