Coldmirror distances herself from Harry Potter due to J. K. Rowling
Kathrin Fricke, the media artist known as Coldmirror, has publicly distanced herself from the Harry Potter franchise. In an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung, the YouTuber stated she no longer has a love for the series and cannot watch it with a clear conscience.
Fricke cited the controversial stance of author J. K. Rowling regarding transgender people as the primary reason for her decision. She criticized Rowling for using her wealth to actively make life difficult for others. While the Harry Potter series previously served as a personal refuge for Fricke during difficult times, she noted that the magic has faded due to the author's public actions.
Fricke, who has been active on YouTube since 2006 and is known for her satirical Harry Potter parodies, ended her related podcast in 2023. Despite her personal break from the franchise, she acknowledged that fans may still find strength and community within the stories.
