Kathua NHM employees begin 72-hour strike over pending demands

National Health Mission (NHM) employees in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, have launched a 72-hour strike to protest pending demands. The workers are seeking timely salary payments, regular increments, and job security.

Staff members reported that some have been providing services for approximately 17 years under precarious conditions. They noted that salary delays of three to four months have made it difficult to manage household expenses. While the government previously stated that NHM is a centrally sponsored scheme and issues should be resolved at the central level, employees claim the center has informed them that the matter falls under state jurisdiction.

Protesters warned that if their demands are not met, the peaceful demonstration may be extended beyond the initial 72-hour period.
