Kathua security agencies probe pigeon with Pakistani number ring
Security agencies in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir have launched an investigation after a pigeon was discovered in the Hiranagar sector bearing a ring with a Pakistani mobile number. The bird was spotted by a local resident in a field in the Chhan Khatriyan area.
The ring attached to the pigeon's leg contains the number 03001717652, which appears to follow a Pakistani telecom code. While authorities are examining the possibility of espionage or suspicious activity near the international border, they have not yet established any incriminating links.
Investigators are also considering whether the bird is simply a lost pet or part of pigeon racing or fancy rearing. Local police have taken possession of the pigeon and are conducting technical verifications of the number. This incident occurs amid heightened security and recent reports of suspected drone movements in the nearby Bobiyan area.
