Kathua truck driver arrested for alleged military surveillance
Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a 24-year-old truck driver in Kathua for allegedly operating a live surveillance system to monitor Indian Army personnel and military convoys. The accused, identified as Aman, reportedly lived near the International Border and used a SIM-enabled CCTV camera installed outside his residence to transmit live footage to Pakistani intelligence handlers.
Investigators believe the arrest followed a counter-intelligence operation involving the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), which exposed an alleged conspiracy by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to monitor military units under the Indian Army’s XVI Corps. Sources indicate the accused was allegedly paid Rs 20,000 for the surveillance footage.
Authorities are currently investigating the extent of the involvement, examining communication links, financial transactions, and the specific equipment used to gather sensitive information about military deployments in the border area.
