Kathy Hochul leads Bruce Blakeman in New York governor race

New polling data shows Democratic incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul maintaining a lead over Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman in the New York gubernatorial race, though the margin of her advantage varies by survey. A Siena University poll indicates Hochul leads 50% to 41%, a figure similar to her August standing. However, a Quinnipiac University poll reported a much wider margin, placing Hochul ahead 58% to 39%.

Political endorsements are emerging as key factors. A Siena poll suggests that Donald Trump’s endorsement of Blakeman could negatively impact his campaign for 51% of voters, while Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s endorsement is viewed positively by 50% of respondents. Additionally, former Democratic City Council member Bob Holden has endorsed Blakeman, citing concerns over public safety.

Other notable developments include a report that Nancy Shevell, the ex-wife of Bruce Blakeman and current spouse of Paul McCartney, contributed $18,000 to Hochul’s reelection campaign. In broader state news, voters expressed opposition to the construction of large data centers and the renaming of Lake Ontario.
