Katie Boulter wins Japan Open opening match amid rain delays

British tennis player Katie Boulter advanced to the second round of the Japan Open in Osaka after defeating Himeno Sakatsume 6-3, 6-1. The match faced delays due to rain on Monday, leaving Boulter a set and 3-1 up before play was suspended.

Upon resuming on Tuesday, Boulter maintained her momentum to secure the straight-sets victory. Despite facing 13 break points during the match, she successfully defended them, allowing the Japanese wildcard to convert only one. Boulter is scheduled to face Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic in the next round.
