Katie Britt honored by Fight for Alabama Families for IVF advocacy

Fight for Alabama Families, an IVF advocacy coalition, presented U.S. Senator Katie Britt with its Pro-Family Champion Award in Washington, D.C. The group, composed of families, advocates, and doctors, recognized Britt for her efforts to protect access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) in Alabama and nationally.

The coalition was formed following a February 2024 Alabama Supreme Court ruling that classified frozen embryos as children under state wrongful death laws, which caused a temporary pause in treatments at Alabama clinics. In response, the Alabama Legislature passed protections that were signed by Governor Kay Ivey in March 2024, allowing clinics to resume services.

Senator Britt, alongside Senator Ted Cruz, introduced the IVF Protection Act in May 2024 to seek nationwide guarantees for fertility access. The group noted Britt’s work in coordinating with federal leadership to address maternal health and fertility coverage.
