Katie Hobbs faces scrutiny over campaign finance reporting

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs is facing scrutiny over discrepancies in her 2026 Quarter 2 campaign-finance reports. Following ten amendments to the filing, questions have arisen regarding the reporting of approximately $1.426 million in exempt small-dollar contributions. In the original filing, this amount was recorded, but in subsequent amended filings, the figure dropped to $0 before nearly $400,000 reappeared in the fourth amendment.

The campaign's total receipts have also shown significant fluctuations through various amendments, moving between $1.7 million and $3.1 million.

Additionally, the filings reveal that over 46,000 contributors in the Hobbs campaign are listed as “not employed” or “unemployed.” Similar patterns were noted in the filings of other Arizona Democratic officials, including Attorney General Kris Mayes and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, who reported 17,000 and 12,000 such instances, respectively.
