Katie Taylor named WBC Ambassador for Life

Retired champion boxer Katie Taylor has been appointed as a ‘WBC Ambassador for Life’ by the World Boxing Council. The announcement comes just weeks after she concluded her 20-year professional career with a final victory at Croke Park in Dublin.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman praised Taylor, describing her as the ‘pride of the WBC’ and highlighting her impact on the sport. He noted her journey from a young girl who had to disguise herself as a boy to box, to a superstar who headlined major venues and inspired millions of women to enter the ring.

Taylor, a two-weight undisputed champion and 2012 Olympic gold medalist, had previously expressed a desire to relax following her retirement. However, this new lifelong role ensures her continued involvement with the governing body and the global boxing community.
