Katie Taylor retires as undisputed champion after victory in Dublin

Irish boxing icon Katie Taylor retired from professional boxing following a dominant victory over France’s Flora Pili at Croke Park in Dublin. The win secured Taylor’s position as a three-time undisputed world champion, adding the WBC super lightweight title to her existing WBA, IBF, and WBO belts.

Competing before a crowd of approximately 80,000 to 83,000 spectators, Taylor won via unanimous decision with scores of 100-90, 100-90, and 98-91. The event marked the first major boxing headline at Croke Park since 1972. Taylor, who previously won Olympic gold in 2012, described the farewell as the most special moment of her career.

Promoter Eddie Hearn praised the atmosphere, calling it one of the greatest occasions in boxing history. The event drew a star-studded crowd, including various Irish sporting figures and musical performers such as Westlife. Taylor leaves the sport with a legacy of breaking barriers for female athletes and a professional record of 26 wins and one loss.
