Katowice Airport begins terminal C expansion
Katowice Airport has commenced the expansion of its passenger terminal C to accommodate growing traffic. The project, valued at 34.7 million PLN net, will increase the terminal's usable area from 6,900 square meters to over 10,400 square meters and extend the building's length from 156 to 235 meters.
Key upgrades include the installation of five baggage carousels—up from three—and a new passport control zone featuring 16 stations, including 10 automated ABC gates. The airport has also ordered four C3 standard security control lines. These new scanners will allow passengers to keep electronics in their carry-on luggage and permit liquids in containers up to 2 liters.
The expansion is being carried out by Budimex on behalf of Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. and is expected to be completed by mid-2027, ahead of the summer season. This investment follows a record-breaking year for the airport, which served over 7.2 million passengers in 2025.
