Podhale and regional Poland host traditional festivals and social initiatives
Various regional and national cultural and social initiatives are taking place across Poland. In the Podhale region, the traditional autumn redyk season has begun, featuring sheep marches through towns like Zakopane, Nowy Targ, and Szczawnica. These events, led by shepherds, attract significant tourist interest and are a staple of local mountain culture.
Social support programs are also active, including free psychological consultations in Cedry Wielkie and mental health support for families in Warsaw through the ‘Dajemy poMOC’ project. In Stara Kornica, a mobile support center has been established to provide educational and social assistance to children in rural areas, helping to overcome transport barriers. Additionally, a coalition in Gdynia is working to improve the independence of youth in foster care.
Community engagement continues with local initiatives in Katowice, where residents can propose and fund projects, and senior-focused programs in Pyskowice offering workshops and integration activities. On a broader scale, the European Week of Sport saw record participation in Poland, with over 293,000 people engaging in physical activities to promote healthy lifestyles.
