Katowice celebrates 161st anniversary with music festival

Katowice is celebrating its 161st anniversary of receiving municipal rights with a series of public events, headlined by the free two-day “Kocham Katowice” concert series at the Katowice Culture Zone.

The musical celebrations begin on September 11. The Friday lineup includes performances by Viverny, BRK, Bass Astral, and Grubson, concluding with a set by Vito Bambino. Saturday, September 12, features the return of the group SISTARS for their only outdoor concert of the year, alongside Sami, Łąki Łan, Kasia Sienkiewicz, and the hip-hop artist Fukaj.

In addition to the musical performances, the event includes a festival village with music, relaxation, and gaming areas. A dedicated “Children’s Zone” will offer animations, games, and inflatables. The celebrations will conclude on September 13 with a chamber concert by the duo Stechek at the Silesian Museum.
