Katowice launches photography competition themed on Polish Capital of Culture 2027

The photography competitionKatowice in the Lens’ has launched a new edition centered on the theme ‘Katowice as the Polish Capital of Culture 2027’. This title was awarded to Katowice and the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis following their efforts during the bid for the European Capital of Culture 2029.

Organized for 17 years in collaboration with the Silesian District of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF), the contest invites amateur photographers to capture the city's diverse cultural landscape. A commission will select 30 works, with the results to be announced during an exhibition opening in early December at the KATOWICE gallery.

Katowice continues to evolve by integrating its industrial heritage with modern innovation. Former industrial sites are being revitalized into cultural, educational, and business hubs, such as the Nikiszowiec district and the emerging Shaft K New Technologies District.
