Katrin Ortega leaves PSOE to launch independent political project

Katrin Ortega, the mayor of Parauta in the Serranía de Ronda, has officially requested to leave the PSOE. Ortega, who secured 88.14% of the vote in the 2023 municipal elections, stated that her departure is due to a personal and political reflection, noting that she does not feel identified with national party structures.

Ortega intends to lead a new independent political formation called ‘Unidos Parauta Avanza’ for the 2027 municipal elections. Two other members of her team, Juan Jesús Sánchez and Adelaida Becerra, have also left the socialist party. Ortega emphasized that her commitment remains with the residents of Parauta rather than partisan organizations.

Amidst this political shift, reports have circulated regarding her potential participation in the reality television show ‘Gran Hermano VIP’. While Ortega acknowledged receiving television proposals, she clarified that she has no immediate intention of joining any entertainment programs.
