Sophia Laforteza takes hiatus from KATSEYE for mental health

Sophia Laforteza, leader of the international girl group KATSEYE, is taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to prioritize her mental health and wellness. The announcement was made on August 7 through the group’s label, HYBE x Geffen Records, and via the Weverse platform.

Following consultations with medical professionals, it was advised that Laforteza take an extended period of rest and ongoing care. While she is eager to perform, the group stated that the health and long-term well-being of their artists remains the highest priority. Her condition is expected to be reassessed in September.

Laforteza expressed her heartbreak over missing group commitments via Instagram, noting that she is learning to prioritize her mind and body to ensure long-term career sustainability. Despite her absence, KATSEYE plans to proceed with upcoming projects, including the release of their EP, ‘Wild’, on August 14, and their new documentary, ‘KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS’.
