Sophia Laforteza of KATSEYE announces hiatus for mental health
Sophia Laforteza, the leader of the global girl group KATSEYE, has announced a temporary hiatus to prioritize her mental health and wellness. The announcement was made via a joint statement from HYBE x Geffen Records on the fan platform Weverse.
Following consultations with medical professionals, it was recommended that the 23-year-old vocalist take an extended period of rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery. The label stated, “While Sophia herself is eager to perform alongside her members, the health, safety, and long-term well-being of our artists will always remain our highest priority.”
Laforteza's absence comes at a critical time for the group, coinciding with the upcoming release of their EP, "Wild," on August 14 and the start of their "WildWorld Tour" in September. This is the second time a member has stepped away this year, following Manon Bannerman's hiatus in February. The group's management plans to reassess Laforteza's condition in September.
