Katsika completes connection to lakeside pedestrian and bicycle path

The connection between Katsika and the existing lakeside pedestrian and bicycle path in the Municipality of Ioannina has been completed. The project, approximately one kilometer in length, creates a new link between Katsika and the lakeside front of Lake Pamvotis, providing residents with a space for walking, cycling, and recreation.

In addition to promoting sustainable mobility, the project utilizes modern permeable materials. Unlike conventional impermeable surfaces, these materials allow rainwater to pass through, enhancing soil absorption and reducing surface runoff. This design approach aims to increase infrastructure resilience against extreme weather events and serves as a pilot model for future urban planning in the region.
