Katsina and Jigawa states announce revised budget proposals

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has presented a proposed N828.6 billion budget for the 2027 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly. The proposal, titled ‘Building Your Future IV’, allocates N638 billion to capital expenditure and N190.73 billion to recurrent expenditure. Key priority areas for capital spending include education, works and housing, agriculture, health, and rural development. The governor noted that the 2027 proposal is 7.7 percent lower than the 2026 budget, a move intended to enforce fiscal discipline and realistic revenue projections.

In Jigawa State, the Executive Council has approved a supplementary budget that increases the 2026 Appropriation Law from N901.841 billion to N948.210 billion. Information Commissioner Sagir Ahmad Musa stated the N46.369 billion increase was necessitated by changes in revenue realities and emerging expenditure priorities. The revised budget aims to align public spending with available resources to support socio-economic development.
