Katsina State approves N828.6bn budget proposal for 2027

The Katsina State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved a budget proposal of N828,638,844,091.48 for the 2027 fiscal year. Titled ‘Building Your Future Agenda IV’, the proposal represents a decrease of approximately N69.23 billion compared to the approved 2026 budget.

The budget is structured with 77 percent allocated to capital expenditure and 23 percent for recurrent spending. Funding is expected to come from N95.77 billion in internally generated revenue, N234.30 billion in capital receipts, and N487.81 billion from other expected receipts, with a projected opening balance of N10.7 billion.

Sectoral allocations include: • Social Sector: 38.33% • Economic Sector: 35.59% • Administration: 23.97% • Law and Justice: 1.11%

Key priority areas within these sectors include Education (13.41%), Works, Housing and Transport (11.22%), Agriculture and Livestock Development (10.33%), Health (8.41%), and Rural Development (7.92%). The proposal will be transmitted to the Katsina State House of Assembly for scrutiny.
