Katsina State NAPTIP frees 202 trafficking victims

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) rescued 202 victims of human trafficking in Katsina State, Nigeria, between January and July 2026. The rescued individuals include 147 females and 55 males.

Katsina State commander Musa Aliyu announced the operation on the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (July 30). NAPTIP carried out a series of awareness activities—radio programmes, a television interview, and a three‑kilometre road walk—to educate the public. The agency also engaged transport union leaders, urging them to report suspicious movements. Aliyu highlighted a shift toward domestic trafficking and called on citizens, especially women and children’s carers, to remain vigilant and report suspected cases.
