Katsina State rolls out fibre optic services to consumers
The Katsina State Government has launched an initiative to roll out fibre optic services to consumers across the state. The project aims to expand access to reliable, high-speed, and affordable internet connectivity for households, businesses, and public institutions.
To facilitate this rollout, the Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA) organized a sensitization workshop titled ‘Creating an Enabling Investment Environment for Fibre Optics Deployment and Connectivity’. The event brought together telecommunications companies, internet service providers, regulators, and other stakeholders to identify investment opportunities along the fibre optic value chain, specifically focusing on expanding last-mile connectivity across the state's 34 local government areas.
Government officials emphasized that digital connectivity is a critical infrastructure necessary for attracting investment, promoting innovation, and driving economic growth. The administration has committed to creating an enabling environment for private sector investors and coordinating with relevant government institutions to address obstacles to digital infrastructure development.
