Katsina State to receive 1,000 forest guards approved by President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to bolster security in Katsata State, Nigeria. Governor Dikko Radda disclosed the approval after a meeting with Islamic clerics and other stakeholders at the state Government House. The newly recruited guards will be trained and equipped to work alongside the military, police, Department of State Services and community vigilante groups, focusing on forested and remote areas that bandit groups often use as hideouts.

Radda highlighted the broader security collaboration between federal and state authorities, noting additional measures such as banning motorcycles in certain local government areas, restricting POS machines, and limiting petroleum product sales to curb the operational capacity of armed groups. He thanked the president for supporting the initiative and urged communities to cooperate with security agencies, stressing that lasting peace requires collective effort.
