Katsina United faces FIFA sanctions over unpaid coach compensation
FIFA has ordered the Nigeria Premier Football League club Katsina United to pay N28 million in compensation to former head coach Tony Tope Bulus following the wrongful termination of his contract. The ruling follows a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on June 30, 2026, which found that the club breached the two-year agreement signed in August 2023.
In addition to the compensation, the club has been fined USD 5,000 for failing to comply with previous rulings. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) communicated FIFA’s decision to the club, warning that failure to settle the debt and provide proof of payment within 15 days could result in severe sanctions. These potential penalties include a transfer ban preventing the registration of new players and deductions of league points.
