Katsina: Shettima launches women's business fund and urban projects

Vice President Kashim Shettima conducted an official visit to Katsina State, where he launched the Community Investment Fund (CIF) under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project. The initiative is set to provide business capital to more than 40,000 women who have met specific eligibility criteria through savings and group activities. Shettima emphasized that the program aims to foster economic resilience, increase household incomes, and provide women with the resources necessary to expand their enterprises.

During the visit, Shettima also inaugurated several urban renewal projects, including 32 compressed natural gas-powered buses and 200 electric-powered tricycles to improve mass transportation. Additionally, he commissioned multiple road projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and mobility within the state metropolis.

In a separate political development in Katsina, Shettima received several prominent politicians from opposition parties who formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). This influx of new members, including former Secretary to the Katsina State Government Mustapha Inuwa, was described by party leaders as a significant boost to the APC's grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
