Kaufland and BTS renew hiking trails near Kardzhali

Kaufland Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Tourist Union (BTS) have completed the renewal of hiking trail markings in the Kardzhali region as part of the “Do Not Lose Your Way!” initiative. The project focused on scenic areas within the Eastern Rhodopes, including the route from Borovitsa Family Hotel to the Utrobata cave and the Raiski Izgled area.

Improvements included renewing ribbon markings, clearing paths for better accessibility, and installing 30 directional arrows following BTS standards. The work also covered sections along the Arda River and the old bridge near the village of Sukhovo.

This effort is part of a larger 2026 goal to renew 400 km of tourist routes across 11 key regions in Bulgaria, including Sofia Mountains, Ruse Region, and routes near Plovdiv, Sliven, and Varna. This follows a 2025 campaign where volunteers updated 400 km of trails across 10 locations.
