Kaufland expands German retail network to over 790 stores

Kaufland, a member of the Schwarz Group, has expanded its presence in Germany to more than 790 stores. This growth follows a period of significant expansion, including the acquisition of 101 Real locations in 2020 and 2021. While the company opened 20 new markets last year, it also managed a limited number of closures, including locations in Gera and Aalen.

Beyond retail expansion, the company has significantly scaled its internal production capabilities. Its meat processing division has grown from a small operation in Heilbronn in 1964 to a large-scale production network employing approximately 3,000 people. The company produces massive quantities of meat products, including its own K-PURLAND brand, to supply its hundreds of branches, restaurants, and canteens.
