Kaufland study reveals impact on Slovak labor market
A socio-economic study conducted by Kaufland in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers Slovakia has detailed the retailer's impact on the Slovak labor market and economy.
According to the findings, Kaufland directly employed 7,209 people in full-time equivalents during the last financial year. However, the company's operations support a much broader network, totaling approximately 11,873 full-time equivalent jobs. The study highlights a multiplier effect where every five jobs directly within Kaufland support approximately three additional positions outside the company.
These indirect jobs are distributed among Slovak suppliers and business partners—such as farmers, bakers, and logistics providers—as well as service industries supported by the spending of Kaufland employees and their partners.
