Kauli Vaast aims to defend Olympic surfing title in Los Angeles

Tahitian surfer Kauli Vaast has expressed his ambition to defend his Olympic title at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The 24-year-old, who won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics in Teahupo'o, is currently navigating his first year on the professional Championship Tour (CT).

Training at Lower Trestles, the future Olympic surfing site near Los Angeles, Vaast noted the significant differences in conditions compared to Tahiti, specifically citing the sand and water temperature. Despite the change in environment, he described the location as a world-class wave that many surfers dream of competing on. His current focus remains on adapting to the elite circuit and securing his position on the CT for next season.
