Kaulonia Tarantella Festival announces 28th edition in Calabria

The 28th edition of the Kaulonia Tarantella Festival is scheduled to take place from August 19 to 22 in Caulonia, Reggio Calabria. Under the artistic direction of Mimmo Cavallaro, the event will be held in Piazza Mese and centers on the theme ‘Suoni di Pace’ (Sounds of Peace).

This edition is dedicated to the memory of Angelo Frammartino, a young cooperative worker from Caulonia who was killed in Jerusalem in 2006. The festival aims to serve as a cultural bridge between generations and peoples, using folk music to promote dialogue and community building.

The musical program includes various artists and cultural activities. Performances include Delia Buglisi, Zingari Felici, and Kantarè on the opening night; Cecè Barretta, Lidiya Koycheva with the Balkan Orchestra, and Le Ninfe della Tammorra on August 20; and Davide Van De Sfroos on August 21. The event will also feature workshops, meetings, and cultural discussions focused on Mediterranean culture and the social value of music.
