Kaun Banega Crorepati features high-stakes ₹1 crore trivia questions
The Indian television game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) recently featured high-stakes questions worth ₹1 crore, highlighting historical trivia and testing contestants' decision-making.
In one instance, contestant Yogesh Sahu, an IIT Bombay graduate and UPSC aspirant, chose to quit the game with ₹50 lakh after being presented with a question regarding the first Indian Derby winner in 1943. Sahu expressed doubt over the option ‘Princess Beautiful,’ fearing the wording of the question might have been different. Host Amitabh Bachchan later revealed that ‘Princess Beautiful’ was indeed the correct answer, noting the horse was a mare owned by the Maharaja of Baroda.
Another ₹1 crore question focused on a rare Test cricket record from 1912. The question sought to identify the cricketer dismissed twice in a single match by bowler Jimmy Matthews, who achieved the unique feat of completing two hat-tricks in the same game. The correct answer was Tommy Ward, the South African wicketkeeper who was the final wicket in both of Matthews' hat-trick sequences.
