Kaunas cultural institutions host exhibitions and participate in international art fair

The Kaunas Painting Gallery is hosting a closing event for the exhibition ‘Keisti kailį. Kauno kailių pramonės palikimas’ (Changing the Fur. The Legacy of Kaunas Fur Industry) on September 10. The event aims to celebrate the industrial history of Kaunas and the community associated with the city’s former fur factories, such as ‘Kaspinas’, ‘Drobė’, ‘Inkaras’, and ‘Banga’.

In other news, the Pelėdų kalno Gallery, representing the Kaunas Academy of Arts, is participating in the international contemporary art fair ‘Art Riga Fair’ in Latvia. The gallery will be represented by artists Sigutė Bronickienė, a graphic artist known for her work with handmade paper and leather, and Birutė Šležienė, who works in ceramics and photography.
