Kaunas launches free cultural programme in residential courtyards

The city of Kaunas has launched its ‘Culture into Courtyards’ programme, a free series of cultural events designed to bring professional arts directly into residential neighborhoods. By utilizing everyday spaces like courtyards, the initiative aims to make concerts, theater, film, and circus performances accessible to residents without requiring travel to the city center.

The programme features more than 20 activities across ten different districts. Highlights include musical performances in Aleksotas and Žaliakalnis, percussion works in Šančiai, and dance duets on Karaliaus Mindaugo Prospektas. Visual arts are also a key component, with Lithuanian short films being screened in Dainava and Petrašiūnai, while photography projects are projected onto building facades in Panemunė.
