Kaunas starts building universal football‑rugby arena in Aleksotas
Construction of a new universal football and rugby arena has begun in the Aleksotas district of Kaunas, Lithuania. The project, awarded to the construction firm UAB Infes, will create a 28‑metre‑high A++ energy‑class complex spanning three floors and a basement, covering about 16,000 sq m. It will house a 105 m × 68 m playing field that meets official standards, a 1,000‑seat tribune, and dedicated spaces for athletes, referees, medical staff and administration, including sanitary rooms, changing zones and spectator facilities on the second floor. An upper‑level sports club with additional changing rooms and outdoor terraces will also be included. Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis said sport infrastructure is “an investment in people” that will encourage active lifestyles, while Infes director Arvydas Markevičius confirmed that preparatory work will start in early August. The arena is located near the intersection of European Prospect and Veiverių Street, close to S. Dariaus and S. Girėno airport.
