Kaunas to host 53rd Kauno ruduo international rally

The 53rd annual Kauno ruduo international rally is scheduled to take place in Kaunas and its surrounding areas on October 3. Running continuously since 1974, it is one of the oldest racing events in the country and was the first in Lithuania to receive international rally status in 1981.

The event is currently organized by the International Association of Motorsport Veterans (TASVA). For three decades, the rally has served as a tribute to legendary Lithuanian motorsport figures, specifically Kastytis and Arvydas Girdauskas, who achieved success in the Tour d’Europe and the London-to-Mexico marathon.

Participants will also commemorate a historic motorsport feat from 55 years ago: a record-breaking 36-meter jump made by Kastytis Girdauskas and Latvian navigator Uldis Madrevics in a Moskvich 412 during the 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland. This jump remains unsurpassed.
