Kaunas University of Technology advances student research and telemedicine initiatives

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is promoting student involvement in scientific research through its annual national conference "Mathematics and Natural Sciences: Theory and Application," organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The 2024 event gathered 34 young researchers from KTU, other Lithuanian universities and abroad, offering a platform for presenting theoretical and applied studies across mathematics, physics, informatics, and engineering.

Separately, KTU professor Dr Liepa Bikulčienė explains that telemedicine technologies can supplement, not replace, medical professionals. By enabling remote monitoring of patients' functional status, physical activity and rehabilitation progress, the approach aims to reduce clinicians' workload, improve early detection of changes, and bring care closer to patients' homes. The project addresses growing specialist shortages in Lithuania and Europe, especially as populations age and demand for long‑term care rises.
