Kaunas University of Technology researchers develop AI for glucose prediction

Scientists at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) are developing artificial intelligence models to improve the management of type 1 diabetes. The research focuses on predicting glucose concentration changes and assessing the risk of hypoglycemia 30 and 60 minutes in advance.

By analyzing large datasets from continuous glucose monitoring systems, the AI model evaluates multiple factors simultaneously, including insulin pump data, carbohydrate intake, and physical activity. This approach aims to provide patients with better tools to manage unpredictable glucose fluctuations caused by stress, sleep quality, and metabolic differences.
