Kauno Žalgiris wins Lithuanian TOPLYGA championship

Kauno Žalgiris has secured the Lithuanian TOPLYGA championship title after a 4:1 victory over Hegelmann in the Kaunas derby. Despite one round remaining in the season, the team led by coach Željko Sopičius remains mathematically untouchable.

This victory completes a highly successful season for Kauno Žalgiris, which has already secured the Lithuanian Football Federation Cup and the Super Cup. The club is now preparing for upcoming UEFA Conference League fixtures against Lugano, Riga, Egnatia, and Freiburg.

Coach Sopičius noted the difficulty of balancing domestic competition with European tournaments, highlighting a demanding schedule of approximately 20 matches within an 80-day period.
