Kavački clan members sentenced to 108 years in Slovenia

The Ljubljana District Court has sentenced 14 members of the Slovenian branch of the Kavački clan to a combined total of 108 years in prison for large-scale drug trafficking within a criminal organization.

Klemen Kadivac, identified as the leader of the Slovenian cell, received the heaviest sentence of 15 years in prison. He was also ordered to pay a fine of 10,000 euros and forfeit more than 400,000 euros in illegally obtained assets. His brother, Blaž Kadivac, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to return 2.2 million euros in illicit gains, along with a 10,000 euro fine. Other defendants received prison terms ranging from five to nine years.

The court found that the group engaged in wholesale drug trafficking across several countries between December 2018 and May 2021. The organization reportedly used Bitcoin transactions to attempt to conceal the source of their funds. The verdict was supported by evidence including individual confessions and extensive documentation recovered from the encrypted ‘Sky’ communication system. The court also ordered the seizure of more than 2.85 million euros in illegally obtained proceeds and imposed 164,000 euros in total fines. The sentence is not yet final, as defense attorneys have indicated intentions to appeal.
