Kawah Ijen sulfur miners targeted by architectural study

A master's thesis explores architectural solutions to improve the working conditions of sulfur miners at the Kawah Ijen volcano in Indonesia. The miners perform manual extraction, which is considered one of the world's most dangerous jobs due to constant exposure to toxic fumes and a lack of adequate infrastructure or protective equipment.

The proposed architectural approach aims to foster solidarity through tourism and focuses on improving sulfur transport. The design incorporates traditional Javanese architecture and utilizes local materials to promote sustainable construction methods.
