Kawasaki Heavy Industries to develop autonomous humanoid robots using Noetra AI
Kawasaki Heavy Industries is developing autonomous humanoid robots by integrating the physical AI platform from Japanese developer Noetra. The company plans to utilize its Kaleido humanoid robot, which has been under development since 2015, as the primary platform for this technology.
The deployment is expected to begin as early as 2030. Initially, the robots will operate using a combination of remote human control and AI to perform simple tasks such as facility patrols and transporting components in factories and warehouses. As Noetra’s physical AI technology advances, Kawasaki aims to transition the robots toward full autonomy, eventually enabling them to handle complex manufacturing duties like product assembly.
Kawasaki is already engaging with potential customers in the automotive and semiconductor sectors. In addition to the Kaleido humanoid, the company is developing wheeled and quadrupedal models. Kawasaki is also collaborating with Nvidia to enhance the precision and complexity of its autonomous robotic movements.
