Kawasaki KLE 650 appears in Australian homologation document

An Australian homologation document dated October 16, 2026, suggests that Kawasaki may be preparing to launch a new KLE 650 motorcycle for the 2027 model year. The document lists the commercial name as KLE 650 (SE) and identifies the type code as LE650L.

While Kawasaki has not made an official announcement, the appearance of the KLE name indicates a potential return to using the designation for a standalone mid-size adventure enduro, positioned above the KLE 500. Historically, the KLE 650 name was used as a prefix for the early Versys 650 models before the Versys brand became distinct.

Speculation regarding the new model includes the possible use of Kawasaki’s existing 650cc parallel-twin engine, similar to the one found in the Versys 650. Potential features for this new segment could include wire-spoke wheels, increased suspension travel, and modern technology such as TFT displays or connectivity options.
