Kawasaki potentially developing new KLE650 motorcycle

Speculation regarding a new Kawasaki motorcycle model has emerged following a teaser released by the company and regulatory filings in Australia. An Australian Transport Authority report dated October 16, 2026, mentions a model designated as KLE650 (SE), with type codes LE650L and LE650N.

While not an official product announcement, the teaser video shows features such as a metallic-green trellis frame, a different clutch cover compared to the existing KLE500, and a dual front disc brake system. Industry speculation suggests the bike may utilize the 649cc parallel-twin engine found in the Versys 650, which would offer higher performance than the current KLE500.

The new model is viewed as a potential competitor to the Yamaha Ténéré 700. Observers note that the design may feature 21-inch front wheels, with the rear wheel size—either 17 or 18 inches—determining whether the bike is positioned as a versatile roadster or a dedicated adventure motorcycle. An official unveiling is speculated to potentially occur at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.
