Kawasaki unveils Versys 900 sport-touring motorcycle
Kawasaki has introduced the Versys 900, marking a strategic shift for the model from a traditional trail adventure bike toward a more road-oriented sport-touring and crossover focus. The new 2027 model replaces the previous 1,043 cc engine with a lighter 948 cc inline four-cylinder engine derived from the Z series. This powertrain produces 122 CV at 9,500 rpm and 97.3 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, utilizing electronic throttle butterflies for precise response.
To support this new direction, the motorcycle features a redesigned steel multi-tubular chassis designed to balance rigidity with rider feedback. It utilizes 17-inch wheels paired with Metzeler Roadtec 01 tires and maintains long-travel suspension to handle both smooth asphalt and uneven roads. The bike aims for a near 50:50 weight distribution to improve agility.
Technological upgrades include an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that manages the Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF) and adaptive ABS. Ergonomic features include an upright riding position, an adjustable seven-position screen, and a seat height ranging from 825 to 845 mm. The rear subframe is designed to accommodate passengers and luggage, including side cases and a top box.
