Kawasaki Z900RS 2026 launch adds electronic throttle, six‑axis IMU and power boost

Kawasaki introduced the 2026 model of its retro‑styled Z900RS sport motorcycle, offering a Black Ball Edition and an SE version. In China the bike is priced at 119,800 yuan for the Black Ball Edition and 129,800 yuan for the SE version. The redesign brings a full electronic overhaul: an electronic throttle (ETV), a six‑axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) that supports the Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF) with traction‑control and corner‑ABS, a quick‑shifter (KQS), and cruise‑control as standard. Engine upgrades raise the 948 cc inline‑four’s compression to 11.8:1, boost maximum output to 80.5 kW (109 PS) and torque to 95.5 Nm. Additional changes include a longer exhaust tail, new brake components (Brembo on the SE version), Öhlins rear shock, and a USB‑C charging port.

A Japanese test‑ride highlighted the impact of the electronic throttle, noting smoother low‑speed response and improved handling thanks to the IMU‑controlled KCMF system. Riders reported a more refined power delivery and a compact, sportier riding position compared with earlier versions, confirming the bike’s evolution from a classic‑look cruiser to a modern sport machine.
