Kay-Achim Schönbach criticizes German energy and migration policies

Retired Rear Admiral Kay-Achim Schönbach, former commander of the German Navy, has criticized the German government’s current energy and migration policies. In an interview, Schönbach argued that these policies are undermining the country’s market economy.

Schönbach described the current migration policy as the “destructive sister” of climate policy, suggesting that the open-door approach maintained since 2015 is driven by historical guilt stemming from World War II and the Holocaust. He further claimed that politicians and civil society organizations are ignoring the violence associated with the migration crisis to maintain a positive international image.

Additionally, the former naval commander asserted that the rise of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is a direct consequence of elites prioritizing other interests over the welfare of the German people. He also characterized the pressure and attempts to marginalize or ban the AfD as constitutional violations.
