Kay de Wolf to miss remainder of MXGP season due to injury

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing has confirmed that Kay de Wolf will miss the remainder of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship season following a crash on Monday. The 21-year-old Dutch rider sustained a hand injury that prevents him from competing in the final three Grands Prix in Türkiye, China, and Australia.

In addition to missing the remaining MXGP rounds, de Wolf will be unable to represent the Netherlands at the FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernée, France, on October 4. This injury brings an early end to his rookie MXGP campaign, during which he established himself as a podium contender and currently sits ninth in the world championship standings.

De Wolf is also scheduled to undergo surgery later this month to address a pre-existing ankle injury he had been managing during the second half of the season. He will focus on a rehabilitation program with the goal of returning to full fitness for the 2027 season.
